Starting August 31, 2022, interested companies can submit proposals that increase the value of lithium products in Chile, which they can acquire in return at a preferential price and with a guaranteed supply until 2030.
In response to public interest in promoting initiatives to further develop the lithium value chain, Corfo, Chile’s economic development agency, is issuing a call for proposals from domestic and foreign companies to develop value-added products for the lithium market in the country.
Starting August 31, 2022, companies with experience and proven technical and financial capabilities can apply to access lithium carbonates and hydroxides produced by SQM Salar S.A. at preferential prices and ensure supply until 2030, as stipulated in the contracts signed with Corfo.
The preferential price is equal to the average FOB (Free on Board) price calculated based on 20% of the quantity exported by SQM Salar S.A. with the lowest available price in the last six months.
With this call, Corfo invites companies that want to specialize in the production of lithium value-added products in Chile, for example, to develop and produce precursors and/or cathode material, lithium cathodes, lithium battery components, lithium metal and other applications.
Starting Wednesday, August 31, 2022, interested companies can learn more about this call and the exact terms and conditions on the Corfo website at www.corfo.cl.
The application process is limited to one year (deadline August 31, 2023) or until the available volume of lithium products at preferential prices is exhausted.
